Consumer Direct Care Network Washington (CDWA), part of the Consumer Direct Care Network, is committed to providing care and support for people in their homes and communities. We are proud to bring our services to Washington and serve as the Consumer Directed Employer (CDE) for the state’s Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). CDWA will serve as the CDE for Individual Providers (IP) of in-home personal care and respite services. Working closely with DSHS, the Aging and Long Term Support Administration, the Developmental Disabilities Administration, and Area Agencies on Aging, we anticipate beginning services in late 2020.
As the CDE, we will handle credentialing, training compliance, payroll, and other employer responsibilities. Clients will continue to select, schedule, supervise, and dismiss their IPs.
Our friends at Informing Families, a resource provided by the Washington State Developmental Disabilities Council, in collaboration with the Developmental Disabilities Administration and other partners throughout the state, wrote about some of the changes ahead.
