On Thursday, February 26, a coalition of provider agencies and advocacy groups including Consumer Direct, National Council on Independent Living, ANCOR, National Association for Home Care & Hospice, and several independent agencies met with Cindy Mann, Director for Medicaid and CHIP Services, representatives from the Department of Treasury and others from Health and Human Services. The group discussed our ongoing concerns with the large employer mandate of the Affordable Care Act and the unforeseen consequences on Medicaid-dependant providers. Although brief, it was obvious to CMS and Treasury that the voices are growing. They committed to a future meeting of all players to solve the problem. Additionally, while in DC, the group secured written support from two Wisconsin congressional delegates in Senator Baldwin and Congressman Kind.
